Hi, ImEmilian Skoczylas

Unity Game Developer

My Experience & professional skills

I am a Unity Developer with over 4 years of commercial experience in designing and developing games for various platform including mobile, desktop, web and VR. During my career, I’ve actively participated in many ambitious projects, ranging from complex development of gameplay mechanics, implementation of advanced networking system, to integration of development tools and libraries that significantly streamline game production process.

I specialize in C# and Unity engine, enabling me to execute creative ideas effectively and solve cpmplex technical problems. I find great satisfaction in sharing my knowledge – I actively participate as a speaker at industry conferences and workshops, and mentoring junior devs to support their professional growth.

Thanks to my communication skills and passionate commitment, I’m able to work well in a team as well as on my own during projects tasks. I care for the continous development of my competeneces, staying up to date with the lates trends and technologies in the game dev industry.

DA Games OÜ

In my ongoing work on the Legends of Elysium project, I have contributed extensively to the development of existing code, backend systems and networking modules. Joining a new team, I took on more responsibility for delivered modules and coordinated the game’s porting process to the Steam platform. I also expanded my technical responsibilities, focusing on performance optimisation and working closely with the UI and QA teams.

PRIME BIT GAMES

In my role as a Unity Developer, I have successfully managed diverse projects involving the creation of engaging gameplay mechanics, intuitive user interfaces and the integration of complex networking and external plugins. Working in an agile development environment, I have effectively balanced individual task management with leading and coordinating programming teams. Direct interaction with clients further enhanced my soft skills and deepened my project management expertise.

Projects

------------------------------

2022 - 2025

Game type: Multiplayer Strategy Card Game       |       Platform: Web, PC (Steam), Mobile (soon)

My role: Lead Unity Developer

I started working on the project in mid-2022, initially focusing on developing PvP gameplay mechanics using a self-hosted Photon server integrated with the Unity client. One of the key challenges at that stage was synchronising the gameplay logic with the visual layer on the client side.

After a few months, I took full technical ownership of the project after the previous developer left. In addition to continuing gameplay development, I took responsibility for managing the programming team and maintaining direct communication with the client. I also handled the design and integration of the main menu with backend APIs, and developed a backend proxy built in ASP.NET that communicated with Unity using WebSockets.

Over time, I built the game system by system, module by module, until we had a fully playable card/board hybrid where players could build strategic decks and compete against others in League and Battlefield modes.

As the client wanted to implement their own token and NFT functionality, I gained hands-on experience with blockchain technology in Unity. Initially using ChainSafe, then switched to Thirdweb and implemented key features such as minting and staking NFTs directly in-game.

The project is still in development and I continue to implement new mechanics based on customer priorities while maintaining technical oversight.

Current game stats:

  • Over 17,000 registered accounts
  • Over 100,000 PvP matches played
  • 19,000 Discord community members
  • 52,000 Twitter followers

2021 - 2022

Game type: Therapeutic VR Project       |      Platform: Desktop

My role: Unity Developer

The project was carried out at Prime Bit Games in late 2021. The initial goal was to improve the immersion of an existing Oculus Quest 2-based VR experience. However, after a technical review with the team, we decided to rebuild the application from scratch, this time using the HTC Vive Pro with a real-time motion tracking camera setup. The project included systems such as patient database management, real-time pulse, respiratory and EEG testing.

The concept of the project was complex, so I will try to describe it briefly below.
The application was designed for two users: the patient, who experiences the session in VR, and the operator, who manages the session from a PC. The operator enters patient-specific data and guides the patient through a therapeutic session aimed at supporting cancer treatment through the use of Imagination-Based Therapy. The VR user sees a mirror image of themselves with a visual representation of the disease and progresses through four symbolic stages of reflection and healing. The interaction between the two users is essential for the full experience to work as intended.

This was the first VR project of my career. Despite the complexity and uniqueness of the concept, we successfully delivered the final application to the client. I gained valuable experience in immersive application development, real-time interaction and overcoming technical challenges related to VR storytelling and therapy design.

2021 - 2023

Game type: Real-time Multiplayer Battle Game       |       Platform: Mobile (Android/IOS)

My role: Unity Developer

I joined the project in April 2021 as a Unity Developer from the very beginning of its development. The game was inspired by the mechanics of Clash Royale but designed around football fan culture, with a unique aesthetic and atmosphere.

For the networking module, we used Photon (PUN2). One of the main challenges was synchronizing real-time gameplay for two players — including animations, unit positions, and health updates — to ensure a smooth PvP experience.

Later, I implemented full account management and authentication by integrating the game client with a custom backend: registration, login, account removal, and inventory handling. I also added multilingual support using I2 Localization, as the target market included Poland and other European countries with active fan communities.

As development progressed, we introduced new unit cards and abilities to diversify tactical options for players. Close collaboration with QA testers helped us deliver a playable and thematically consistent RTS experience.

This was my first full-scale commercial project, and it gave me valuable hands-on experience with multiplayer development, client-server communication, and production workflows. Although the game was eventually discontinued, it remains an important milestone in my development journey — especially in terms of teamwork and cross-discipline communication.

Froggy: Fantasy Adventure

2020- 2021

Game type: Arcade Physics Puzzle      |       Platform: Mobile (Android/IOS)

My role: Junior Unity Developer / 2D Animator

My journey with this project began during my student internship in 2020. At first, I was responsible for creating 2D animations for characters and level environment elements in Unity, using the built-in Animator system. I was fully engaged in the assigned tasks, expanding my knowledge of proper animation principles and workflow within a game production team.

After a few months, I joined Prime Bit Games as a full-time Unity Developer, taking over the responsibilities of a departing programmer. My main tasks included game testing, bug fixing, and performance optimization for mobile devices. I successfully reduced memory usage and minimized device overheating during gameplay.

This was my first commercial project, and it gave me valuable hands-on experience. I had the opportunity to learn directly from senior developers — knowledge I still apply in my work today.
